Multan's 'Ghanta Ghar': From a glorious past to a ruinous present

(Dunya News) – Multan’s historical 18th century clock tower ‘Ghanta Ghar’ neglected by the administration has turned into to a ghost building. Once known for its accurate time, the clock is no more functioning.
On Feburary 1884, the foundations of the tower were laid which took four years to complete. However, with time there was negligence in maintaining the structure of the building, which has now led to its dilapidated state. Ghanta Ghar is no more a time telling tower instead it has turned into a dumping area for waste.

In addition, Ghanta Ghar is now a refuge for substance abusers. Due to neglect, the clock has stopped working, ceilings of the 18th century building are in ruins and even the closets inside the building are infested with termites. Instead of repairing, whatever was left of the building, it was either removed or destroyed by the management itself.
